I think your reply shows how little you know of the government by fiat that is happening. Private property is being assaulted under Obama. Freedom of speech, religion, your water rights, the rights to protect your state and country. The massive Executive Orders that will allow our lands, resources, and freedom to be taken over by a central government via regulatory bodies are happening every week. Your media is not telling you about this. It’s done by researchers such as Trevor Loudon, Lork Monckton, Tom DeWeese, etc. I’ve never seen a first lady denigrate our country by saying “it’s a mean country.” I’ve never seen a President say that success is evil and don’t even think about it or I’m coming after you. If you haven’t seen “2016: Obama’s America” you need to. It gives insight into the man’s thinking. It only scratches the surface but it’s enough. IF he wins, the Republic is gone. He’ll “have more flexibility” to help the Russians succeed in their goals. Open mic day remember?

They don’t see this election as the one that will break this Republic if Mr. Obama stays in office.

I’m not sure what that means in practice. If Romney wins though, he’ll be renominated for a second term. At best, that is eight years of Romney, who will be no different than Bush 43 in terms of spending and debt. Or we could have four years of Romney and then four years of someone maybe even worse than Obama.

I agree. That’s my only problem with Mr. Paul. His foreign policy should be modified. We do have allies. You break those bonds if we are attacked and need help as we’ve given others in the past, we’ve done ourselves no favors. On the other hand I believe this country could thrive and be self-sufficient should our government get out of the way, let us use our lands, and resources freely. We could be isolated and survive quite well.

I agree happeninghobbit. That is my concern as well. I believe that if they pursue a narrow focus they will LOSE and they have no idea what is coming their way. Tunnel vision does not allow for perspectives outside of your own and can be disastrous not only for themselves but for the whole country.

Justin I agree to a certain point. However, you stated “vote for people who violate their principles, even if it means SHORT-TERM DEFEAT.” I believe that is the problem with most, not all, Ron Paul supporters. They don’t see this election as the one that will break this Republic if Mr. Obama stays in office. AND break it, it will. It will not be short-term, it will be lost forever. This man dictates NOW from the oval office and has placed mechanisms so entrenched we won’t be able to remove them. That’s the short-sighted view from the majority of Ron Paul supporters. Isn’t there already an example for people in the liberty movement (or whatever you call it) to follow if they want to become a solid block in the Republican Party?

Evangelicals and gun rights advocates refuse to vote for people who violate their principles, even if it means short-term defeat. Today, as opposed to 20 or 30 years ago, their principles are fundamental Republican policies. For example, a straightforward principle to use as a litmus test would be whether the candidate supports cutting a trillion dollars from next year’s federal budget.

Again, TP Hobbit Woman – you’ve hit the nail on the head! Ron Paul is now history, although many of his ideas & policies will live on in a newer version and with a much bigger constituency. Actually, I should amend that to say that his
ideas for addressing the domestic economic agenda will continue to have legs; but only the general outline of his foreign policy ideas (modified isolationism) will even have a chance to survive to see another day. Being naive on the subject of a nuclear Iran and dismissive of such a strong and important ally as Israel is nothing more than a reiteration of Obama’s disgusting foreign policy objectives!

I like hearing from people who have experienced the damaging aftermath of communism. While America still stands there will be a place of refuge but if we fail and succomb to the fate of Cuba there is no place else to go.

Let’s hope the RP supporters allow themselves to see the facts instead of the dream. I know RP promised nothing but the Constitution yet he is willing to hand this Constitution-Busting administration another 4 years to complete their wrecking job. Exactly how patriotic is RP when he can’t get out of his own way long enough to save the Republilc? Will his followers wake up in time to see the hypocrisy coming from RP and accept that they are nothing more than useful tools for his ego?
